n the world of high-performance sports sedans, the BMW M5 has been an iconic name since its first introduction back in 1985. Now, the highly anticipated seventh-generation BMW M5 is making its debut within the next 12 months, poised to continue the legacy of this legendary vehicle.

The 2024 BMW M5 is set to deliver a thrilling driving experience with a range of impressive features and advancements. Under the hood, it is expected to boast a formidable 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 engine, renowned for its power and responsiveness. However, this model could also mark an important milestone as it may be the last new V8 developed by BMW. With the European Union proposing stricter emission laws, the automotive industry is transitioning towards alternative powertrains.

Embracing the shift towards electrification, the 2024 BMW M5 is rumoured to incorporate a plug-in hybrid system, offering an electric driving range of more than 80 kilometres. This eco-friendly approach allows for efficient performance while reducing emissions and environmental impact.

Stepping inside the cabin, the 2024 BMW M5 showcases cutting-edge technology and innovation. Twin widescreen displays dominate the cockpit, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. BMW has integrated key functions into the infotainment system, enhancing convenience and ease of use. Notably, touch-sensitive buttons have been introduced in the 'Interaction Bar,' extending below the window line on the doors and across the dashboard, further streamlining the user experience.

The 2024 BMW M5 will also bring advanced driving assistance systems to the table. The 5 Series range, including the M5, is expected to offer optional semi-autonomous driving features such as Highway Assistant and Active Lane Change. These capabilities enable the vehicle to change lanes on freeways without direct driver input. However, it remains to be seen whether these systems will be available on Australian roads, pending local regulations and approvals.

With all the technological advancements and performance upgrades, it's anticipated that the 2024 BMW M5 will surpass the $300,000 mark, making it the first M5 to reach such a price point in the Australian market. Local pricing details are expected to be announced closer to the vehicle's global debut, which is anticipated to take place later this year or early next year. Production is slated to begin in the second half of 2024.

The upcoming 2024 BMW M5 represents the relentless pursuit of driving excellence and showcases BMW's commitment to pushing boundaries in performance and technology. Enthusiasts and automotive connoisseurs alike eagerly await its arrival, ready to experience the ultimate fusion of power, luxury, and innovation that the BMW M5 has come to symbolise.
