MW Group Australia has declared its intention to divest its company-owned dealership in Sydney. The high-profile automotive brand is set to sell the retail outlet to the Australian Motor Group, a notable dealer within its retail network. The sale signifies a strategic shift in focus for BMW Group, aimed at enhancing its business operations and customer-centric approaches.
This decision to transfer ownership comes as part of BMW Group's ongoing strategic analyses of its business operations. The move emphasises a transition away from direct ownership of a retail outlet, allowing the Australian Motor Group to take the helm in Sydney.
"Represented by independent investors who collectively own 48 dealerships across Australia, the Australian Motor Group demonstrates a solid track record of excellence. Their commitment to customer satisfaction and business innovation strongly resonates with BMW Group's core values," stated Wolfgang Buechel, CEO of BMW Group Australia.
The undisclosed amount transaction marks a significant step in BMW's corporate decisions in the Australian automotive market. Notably, this Sydney dealership, founded in 1989, underwent a $65 million redevelopment in 2019. As the largest BMW site in Australia, it achieved impressive sales numbers, recording the sale of 1950 new BMW cars in 2022.
The announcement indicates a milestone in BMW Group Australia's business strategy, aligning with its core vision while enabling the Australian Motor Group to further solidify its presence and uphold the legacy of excellence in the Sydney area.
