Evie Announces Price Adjustments to Enhance Charging Network

I

n a move that has sparked attention across the electric vehicle (EV) community, Evie, one of Australia's prominent EV charging providers, has decided to implement a series of price adjustments starting from Thursday, January 18th.

The adjustments reflect an average increase of 21% across various charge rates. Here's a breakdown of the changes:

  • Evie 22kW (AC, 3 phase): New - 50 Cents/kWh (Up by 43% from the old rate of 35 Cents/kWh)
  • Evie 50kW DC fast chargers: New - 58 Cents/kWh (Up by 16% from the old rate of 50 Cents/kWh)
  • Evie 150kW DC super-fast chargers: New - 68 Cents/kWh (Up by 13.3% from the old rate of 60 Cents/kWh)
  • Evie 350kW DC ultra-fast chargers: New - 73 Cents/kWh (Up by 12.3% from the old rate of 65 Cents/kWh)

The average price rise, standing at 21.2%, has raised eyebrows among EV enthusiasts who rely on Evie's extensive network, encompassing more than 200 locations across the country.

An Evie spokesperson defended the decision, stating, “This adjustment is driven by our commitment to investing in a top-notch, reliable, and expansive charging network across the country.” They emphasized that the increase would contribute to ongoing improvements in service quality.

With the new rates in effect, a typical 25kWh charging session is expected to become roughly $2 more expensive than before. Notably, this adjustment places Evie as the most expensive option for 350kW ultra-rapid charging.

While the price increase has generated discussions about the overall cost of EV ownership, Evie users anticipate continued investment in the charging infrastructure and service reliability. Time will tell how these adjustments influence the broader EV landscape in Australia.
