Ford's Iconic Mustang V8 to Thrive in the Electric Age, Assures Executive

T

he Ford Mustang's famous V8 engine may have a longer life than expected, extending well into the electric-car era, as confirmed by Jim Owens, the global brand manager for the Ford Mustang. In a recent interview with Australian media, Owens stated that the Mustang V8 will continue to be produced "for as long as we can, we will."

While rivals like the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger are transitioning to electric or six-cylinder power, Owens remains confident about the Mustang's enduring appeal. He pointed out that the Mustang has weathered ups and downs in the past and has continuously been a part of the automotive landscape since its inception in 1964.

While the Mustang V8 may not be everyone's cup of tea, it still enjoys a dedicated following among both younger and older buyers who appreciate the sports car's unique design, powerful engine, and advanced technology. Owens acknowledged that the brand might not attract die-hard Chevrolet or Dodge fans, but it appeals to those who are interested in a petrol-powered V8 sports car without specific brand loyalties.

Interestingly, Ford continues to invest in V8 power for future models, showing its commitment to cater to enthusiasts who prefer the classic V8 experience. Additionally, the company offers an electric car alternative with the Mustang Mach E GT performance package for those interested in electric performance.

When questioned about potential concerns over stricter emissions regulations potentially affecting V8 power, Owens stated that the company is actively working to meet emissions requirements through a balanced mix of vehicles in the US. While the future remains uncertain, Ford is determined to keep the Mustang V8 alive and thriving, providing customers with an iconic driving experience that stands the test of time.
